dxFeed Data And Backfill Data Issues
Backfill Data Issues
Please check the following:
- Your internet connection speed. Real 25Mbit/s should be enough.
- Check what version you are running. If upgrading to version 7.1 or higher helps, then it's because you are too far from Europe where the main DXFeed cluster is located. 7.1 or higher automatically picks the closest one.
No More Backfill Data Is Allowed By The License
It means that the maximum amount of Backfill Data is downloaded according to the license limitations.
Upon loading any stock, I receive '1-hour cloud' historical data rather than '24 hours cloud' data I have paid for. Why?
The issue of backfill data (recent historical data) maybe because of multiple reasons:
1. Your Bookmap license is set incorrectly
In this case, you won't see 24h 'cloud data' when you subscribe to an instrument (local only). It can be that your license from some reason is not updated automatically; hence, you will experience this issue every month. In these cases, you need to restart Bookmap after the license update.
2. dxFeed server issue
In this case, you will see 'cloud data' when subscribing to a stock, but there will be no data (often will be accompanied by
3. Exchange-related issue
You may request data outside trading hours and it could be that the exchange does not provide the data at those hours, so the data was not generated. E.g. if some exchange trades only between 1:00 and 2:00 you can still request data at 17:00 and as long as 1:00-2:00 interval is (partially) included you will see historical data appear. But requesting data from 3:00 to, say 4:00 will yield no result regardless of when you do it, because there is no data there.
4. Bookmap handling of the data
In addition to the cloud, data is also stored locally on your PC, so when you subscribe to an instrument for the second time, local data gets priority over the cloud (dxFeed). Hence you may see the holes in the data (e.g., when you send the computer to sleep, or something interrupts your ongoing connection, the data is being recorded yet it's empty) and miss some backfill data. If this is the case, you can delete the data files located in C:\Bookmap\Data library and subscribe to an instrument again. After removing the files, it will load from the cloud only.
