Bookmap data transfer becomes slower every day and sometimes stops

Post by heinzfx » Sun Feb 04, 2024 7:11 pm

Hello
Why is data transmission becoming increasingly slow and sometimes stopping?
I have win 10 with 8MB RAM on the hard drive and there is enough free space.
At the beginning everything worked without any problems 2 weeks ago, but it's getting slower day by day.
What can I improve or change?
Thanks a lot for your answer.

Hello Heinz,

Could you please describe your issue in more details?

How exactly does the problem manifest itsel

Please send us screenshot from Bookmap application from menu Settings->Perfomance->Memory allocation/GC.

After the problem with the slow operation of the Bookmap application appears please close Bookmap application and send us the last C:\Bookmap\Logs -> common log file.

Please send all this information by email to [email protected]

Hi,
Please continue troubleshooting with support, but for anyone stumbling upon this thread please note that 8GiB of RAM is an absolute minimum according to our system requirements: https://bookmap.com/knowledgebase/docs/ ... quirements - the recommended amount even for light use is 16GiB

With 8GiB of RAM bookmap will default to a relatively low maximal amount of memory for Java Heap, around 2GiB. If you are running any heavier instruments, addons, load more than 1 hour of history etc - that is probably not enough.

You can try to mitigate it by changing memory allocation settings to let bookmap consume 4GiB of RAM which will somewhat alleviate the issue at a cost of basically dedicating half of your RAM to bookmap, so it might or might not be an acceptable solution depending on other apps running.

Best regards,
Svyatoslav
