rectangle drawing request

I am following Bruce in the advanced webinars with his emphasis on drawing rectangles on areas of congestion. It would be nice if there was a way to have the rectangle continue forward to the right as time passes. Having to continually drag the rectangle to the right would be a task that I would like to replace with automation.
